Lions raise $2,163 for Semcac Food Shelf

Quillins in Caledonia was a flurry of activity last Tuesday morning when the Caledonia Lions Club held their fifth annual 98.3 shopping spree. Jeannette Buttell of Caledonia was the lucky winner of the Lions Club Mother’s Day Raffle that raised $2,163 for the Semcac Food Shelf this year.
The local Lions Club sold raffle tickets for a chance for the lucky winner to go on a 98.3 second shopping spree at Quillins. There were 72 other “winners” who won gift certificates from area businesses that donated to the cause.
With the help of Houston County Sheriff Doug Ely, shown above and Caledonia Police Chief Kurt Zehnder, below, Buttell was able to pack $510.47 in her shopping cart. She is shown at right with Mother’s Day Raffle Chairman Terry Nelson.
Over the past five years the local Lions Club has been able to raise more than $17,000 to the Semcac Food Shelf, located in downtown Caledonia.
