The Caledonia/Spring Grove Warriors participated in a tournament at The Jewel in Lake City on Monday, May 21. The team came in with a score of 372 for third place.
“We struggled a little bit in this tournament but fared well against some bigger schools and placed third behind Rochester Mayo and Lake City,” said coach Jacquelyn Hauser. Paige played well shooting an 86 and taking third place individually.
“This was a good tournament for us as the girls got to play the course that Sections will be held at next week. The Jewel is a different type of course than we are used to playing so being able to play there before Sections is great.”
Paige Langen carded a 43/43-86 for third place individually. Katie McCarthy scored a 46/48-94, Jennifer Ely: 48/46-94 and Katie Meyer 50/48-98. Hannah Hendel came in with a 48/51-99 and Ashley Gavin 56/52-108.
School placements were: 1) Rochester Mayo 348; 2) Lake City 367; 3) Caledonia/SG 372; 4) Winona 379; 5) John Marshall 385; 6) Rochester Lourdes 387; 7) Byron 399; 8) Lake City JV 403.
Hauser said that the girls worked hard this week preparing for Sub-Sections held on Friday, May 25 at The Bridges in Winona. Results from Sub-Sections will appear in the June 6 issue of The Argus. “They are really starting to get where they need to be and we look forward to the next couple of weeks of tournament play,” added Hauser.
