Warrior boys place seventh at The Jewel

As a warm-up for the Section 1AA Golf Championships that were held May 25 at the Jewel Golf Club (after this issue of the Argus went to press) the Caledonia/Spring Grove boys golf team competed in the Jewel Boys Invitational at the Jewel Golf Club in Lake City.

The Warriors finished seventh out of eight teams in the event, which was held on May 21.

Byron placed first with a four-person total of 307 strokes on the par 71 course. Rochester Mayo placed second with 312, Winona High was third at 321, Rochester Lourdes fourth- 322, Triton fifth- 334, John Marshall sixth- 342, C/SG- seventh- 360 and Lake City eighth- 363.

Devin Schiltz had the low round for the Warriors with an 80. He tied for 12th place out of 48 golfers. Joey Ehlers had a 92, David Guth had a 93, Hunter Rud had a 95, Sean Connor had a 98 and Derek Johnson had a 102.

“It was a good experience for the kids and a good way to get ready for the sections,” coach Jeremy Leis said.
