Eugene Schwirtz
Eugene W. “Gene” Schwirtz, 73, of Caledonia, Minn., passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.
Gene was born Feb. 12, 1939, in Milleville, Minn., to Martin and Edna (Loos) Schwirtz. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army from 1961 through 1963. Gene spent his entire life driving truck.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Caledonia; two children, Daniel (Norene) Schwirtz and Lisa Schwirtz (Mark Guillaume), both of Caledonia; three grandchildren, Kari (Casey) Klug, Nichole (Chris) DeFlorian, and Michael Schwirtz, all of Caledonia; four great-grandchildren, Cameryn Klug, Karsen Klug, Kinnley Klug, Braiden DeFlorian, and one on the way; one sister, Irene (Bob) Hosch, Caledonia; his best friend, Dan “Barney” Moriarty, Brownsville, Minn. and his dog, Maggie.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Michael; his brother, Buck; one sister, Margaret Pitts; and one niece, Judy Schwirtz.
In accordance with Gene’s wishes, his body will be cremated and no services are being planned. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, (Caledonia Chapel), is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent at www.jandtfredrickson.com.
