Elsie Mae Palen, 95, of Caledonia, died Thursday, June 7, 2012 at her home. She was born Aug. 14, 1916 in Caledonia to Henry and Josephine (Longueville) Wisland. She married Victor Palen Nov. 25, 1943 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Caledonia. He preceded her in death Feb. 13, 2003.
Elsie worked at the Houston County Courthouse as an abstractor and was later self employed as a registered abstractor. She was well known for her beautiful flower gardens. She is survived by five children, John Palen, Caledonia; Vicki Palen, Milladore, Wis.; Geraldine (Peter Thompson) Schultz, Glendale, Calif.; David Palen, Elroy, Wis.; Frances Palen, Geneva, Switzerland; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a daughter Kristin McFadden, a brother Eugene Wisland, and a sister, Marian Mitchell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 15, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Gregory Leif will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church before the service. McCormick Funeral Home is assisting the family and online condolences may be given at mccormickfuneralhome.net
