Ask questions about internet service provider
To the Editor:
Some rural residents of Houston County have received mailings offering Exede Internet service which advertises that the service is “Brought to you by your local rural coops.” While we at Ace believe that having a choice in providers is a good thing for consumers, we also believe that it is wrong to mislead them. The provider, Northland Connect, is a subsidiary of East Central Coop and is based in Grand Rapids Minn., which is more than 300 miles away. Be aware that a company that misrepresents itself may also be misrepresenting its products.
Ace Communications is a local cooperative and Ace Link is a local company that serves Caledonia. Spring Grove Communications is another local cooperative, as is Tri-County Electric, and there is a local Farmers Coop Elevator as well. All have deep roots in the area and a history of serving their members and customers.
Consumers are bombarded with marketing messages, and not all of them are genuine. Ask some questions and become informed before making a decision. Not every offer you get in the mail is what it seems!
