Legion baseball coach Bob Conway is enthused about what a great night it was for the field dedication on Thursday, June 28.

“It had super turn out and support by the community,” Conway said. He thanked  all who attended the festivities and all who worked to help make it happen.

“That was one of the most fun nights I can remember at the ball park ever,” Conway added. “We played a nine-inning game under the new lights and on the new infield against the talented alumni team consisting of Ryan Goetzinger, Dakota Rostad, Ivan Augedahl, Alex Klug, Troy Frank, Bobby Augedahl, Mike Ideker, Tyler Augedahl, Seth Kasten, Justin Conway, Pat Bolduan, Simon Augedahl and coached by Aaron Augedahl.”

The current Legion team members are: Matt Petersen, Shay Roher, Josh Lampert, Cole O’Heron, Austin Goergen, Joe Pettit, Brandon Vonderhoe, Mason DeMorett, Brett Colsch, Diesel Dolle, Ryan Frank, Zak Kasten, Sam Schulte and Nick Wiste.

“It was a hard fought game with the alumni leading most of the game,” Conway said. “

The alumni scored in the first inning with a double by Ivan Augedahl that was driven home by Troy Frank.

The current Legion team responded and scored in the first inning when Josh Lampert walked, stole second and was driven in by Austin Goergen’s single.

The alumni scored again in the second when Tyler Augedahl walked and was driven in by Seth Kasten’s double.

The alumni scored twice in the sixth with a triple by Ivan Augedahl and maintained a lead of 4 to 1 until the bottom of the ninth. It was then that  the Legion team loaded the bases, and Austin Goergen hit a walk-off double to win the game 5 to 4.

“Wow, what a night,” Conway concluded.
