Hwy. 44 detour in place for two weeks
Reconstruction of Hwy. 44 from Caledonia to Hokah has begun and includes constructing center turn lanes in the city.
During this work motorists will drive on the westbound lane and shoulder while the eastbound lane is reconstructed and drive on the eastbound lane and shoulder while the westbound lane is reconstructed, the Minnesota Department of Transportation reports.
Starting July 9 crews installed a detour while replacing a culvert, which is expected to take two weeks to complete, weather permitting.
The detour route is Houston County Road 20 and Plitzuweit Road.
Mathy Construction is the prime contractor for the $7.5 million project.
