The Caledonia Legion Post 191 baseball team put a good, old-fashioned whipping on Rushford July 9 at Veterans Memorial Field, sweeping both ends of a double-header 16-3 and 13-3.

Both games were five inning affairs as Caledonia hammered the Rushford pitching staff, pounding out 23 hits on a great night for baseball as the fans enjoyed hot dogs and hamburgers.

In the first game Caledonia scored 16 runs on 10 hits, four walks and three hit batters.

Cole O’Heron led the offense as he went 3×4 with a triple and two stolen bases. Ryan Frank added a 2×2 game with a double and stolen base, while Josh Lampert, Zach Kasten and Mason DeMorett were all 1×3 with DeMorett also swiping a base.

Brandon Vonderohe was the winning pitcher in game one and helped his own cause with a 1×1 effort at the plate.

Game two was another blowout as Caledonia rolled to the 10 run win. Ryan Eppen had a great night at the plate, going 3×3 with a single, double and triple.

Matt Petersen was 2×3, and Kasten was 2×4 with a double. DeMorett, Josh Pettit and Sam Schulte were all 1×3 in the game. Frank started on the mound for Caledonia, and DeMorett finished up.
