Caledonia sends hot hitters

The Caledonia Post 191 Legion baseball team was well represented at the 2012 District I East-West All-Star game July 11 at Stewartville.

A total of five players, Ryan Frank, Matt Petersen, Ryan Eppen, Josh Lampert and Travis Frank, were named to the roster for the East squad, which hammered the West team 7-0.

Eppen, Ryan Frank, Lampert and Petersen all had hits in the game, and Frank turned in a strong showing on the mound. The East scored two runs in the first, one in the third, two more in the fifth and one in the sixth inning, respectively.

 

Caledonia seeded third

The Legion seeding and bracket is complete for the Legion tourney. Post 191 has been given the #3 seed and played Lewiston-Alt at home July 16. Lake City has been given the #1 seed in the nine-team tournament with La Crescent seeded second.

St. Charles is the #4 seed behind Caledonia, Wab-Kellog is seeded fifth, Lewiston-Alt sixth, Chatfield seventh, with PEM getting the eight seed and Dover-Eyota seeded ninth.

A win Monday night (additional information was unavailable as of presstime) would then have Caledonia play the winner of the LaCrescent vs. Chatfield game July 18 at the higher-seeded team’s home field. The championship is scheduled for July 21 at Chatfield.
