Marvella Kohlmeyer

Marvella H. Kohlmeyer, 83, of Caledonia, Minn., passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Caledonia Care and Rehab.

She was born July 22, 1929, in Caledonia to Charles and Luella (Pieper) Schauble. Marvella was baptized on Aug. 31, 1929, and confirmed on June 27, 1943, both at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Caledonia. She graduated from Union Township District 27 Grade School on June 18, 1942, and from Caledonia High School in 1946. On Oct. 16, 1947, Marvella married Myles Kohlmeyer and he preceded her in death in November of 1991. She was a homemaker and farmer’s wife along with working for The Argus, Control Data, and Northern Engraving until her retirement in 1994. Marvella lived on the home farm until moving into Caledonia in April of 1991. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church where she was a member of the ladies aid, serving as secretary and later a member of the Senior Hearts. Marvella was also a member of the Caledonia Senior Citizens, RSVP, and a former 4H leader, all in Caledonia. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her two children, William C. (Nancy) Kohlmeyer, La Crescent, Minn. and Bonnie (Calvin) Dame, Miles City, Mont.; five grandchildren, William J. (Karen) Kohlmeyer, Sarah (Michael) Dohnalik, Erica (Dustin) Zenke, Shanna Womack and Heather Guthrie; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn Beitlich and Charlotte Burmester, both of Caledonia and Alice (John) Korthals, La Crosse, Wis., and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Marvella was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Betty Maslowski and her grandson-in-law, Jared Guthrie.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 28, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 650 N. Kingston St., Caledonia. Rev. Jon Wolff will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
