Bridge out ahead
Highway 76 will close from Houston County Road 4 to Houston County Road 10 beginning Monday, Aug. 6 as crews begin a bridge replacement project over the south fork of the Root River near Houston.
Motorists will detour on Houston County Road 20, Hwy. 44 and Hwy. 16.
The historic bridge railings will be rebuilt to be safer while maintaining their historic property. The project is expected to be complete mid-October, weather permitting.
Minnowa Construction Inc. is the prime contractor for the $1.3 million project.
Additionally, motorists traveling on Interstate 90 over the Mississippi River near Dresbach will encounter temporary lane closures and delays beginning Monday, Aug. 6 as crews conduct an annual bridge inspection.
The equipment needed to conduct the inspection requires a lane closure, and traffic will reduce to a single lane controlled by flaggers from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. All lanes will be open each evening after the inspectors complete their work. The lane closures will remain in effect through Friday, Aug. 10, weather permitting.
Crews annually conduct routine inspections of this bridge.
