Betty was born Nov. 28, 1924 in Clinton, Iowa to John and Florence (Shoemaker) Petersen. In 1945 she married Felix Percuoco; he preceded her in death in April of 1981. She later married Arnold Onstad in 1986. They made their home in Spring Grove and Yuma, Ariz. Arnold preceded her in death on May 30, 2010.
Betty was one of the first workers of Hal Leonard Music in Winona after it opened. She also worked at Caledonia State Bank and at Roerkohl, Rippe, Hammell & Murphy Law Office in Caledonia.
Betty was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove and formerly a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caledonia. She enjoyed doing Hardanger stitchery, knitting, playing cards, bingo, cooking and watching movies.
Survivors include her children Michael (Ann) Percuoco, Avon, Minn.; Susan (Steven) Prussing, Fountain City, Wis. and Mary (Lindsay) Opsahl, Omaha, Neb.; stepchildren Charles (La Vonne) Onstad, Morris, Minn.; Mildred (Gaylord) Halverson, Spring Grove; Sharon (James) Johnson, St. Francis, Minn. and James (Audrey) Onstad, Buffalo, Minn.; 17 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, and her sister Bernadine (Burdett) Anderson, Clinton, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held Monday, Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Pastor Stephanie Frey will officiate. Private family graveside services will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday Aug. 12 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
