Annie “Louise” Renk
She was born Oct. 22, 1938 in Caledonia, Minn., to Alvin and Nellie (Vraa) Oesterle. She grew up in the Houston County, Minn., area. On Aug. 3, 1957, Louise married Norman Renk at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia. They lived all 55 years of their married life in New Albin, Iowa. Louise was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, embroidering, making rag rugs and canning and freezing all kinds of vegetables and fruits. Everything she made was awesome. Special memories remain of her great tasting canned peaches, plums, pears, or cherries, along with either a grilled cheese or fried egg sandwich for lunch. In 1975, she went to work at Northern Engraving in Lansing, Iowa, where she made many friends and received the nickname “Louie”. She retired in 2002.
