He was born November 3, 1927, in Caledonia, to Elmer and Alma (Deters) Fruechte. Chester graduated from Waukon High School in Waukon, Iowa in 1947. After graduating from high school he started farming in the Eitzen, Minn., area. On May 12, 1951, he married LuEtta Verthein at the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Brownsville, Minn., and they have shared 61 years of marriage. In 1993, they moved to Caledonia and Chester retired in 1995. He was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Eitzen, Minn., and also a member of the Eitzen Lions. Chester enjoyed bowling, golf, and a good game of cards. Chester and LuEtta enjoyed spending the winter months in Arizona.
Survivors include his loving wife, LuEtta; three sons, Alan Fruechte and Terry (Sue) Fruechte, both of La Crescent, Minn., and Keith (Lisa) Fruechte of Farmington, Minn.; five grandsons, Nick (Jackie), Josh, Ryan, Alec, and Matthew Fruechte; one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn; one sister, Marian (Richard) Reed of Kalispell, Mont.; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in law; and one niece and two nephews.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, Eitzen, Minn. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, 518 W. Main St., Caledonia, on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
