To the Editor:
After a two-year hiatus in attending the county fair the wife and I were able to make this year’s and were pleasantly surprised by the many new attractions and improvements we found. The livestock barns were clean and filled with prize stock that their owners were eager to talk about. This was at 3 p.m. on Sunday! I can remember when the barns used to be empty out long before that.
The excellent exhibitors guide promised goers one of the best county fairs ever, and it certainly lived up to its billing. There were ample events and attractions for all ages and interests, from the petting zoo to the modified tractor pull. It certainly was a family fair.
Also noticeable were the many ground improvements. Frequent heavy traffic areas that used to be mudholes after rains are now nice paved walkways. Several buildings also got the much needed improvement of concrete floors. So, our compliments to President Elden Pohlman and his staff for a job well done throughout the entire event. You have set the bar quite high for next year, but I’ll bet you’ll find some way to surpass it!
