To the Editor:
I had to chuckle when I read Mr. Beckman’s letter to the editor, in regard to dissolving the frac sand study committee, dated Aug. 22.
Let’s examine his logic.
Mr. Beckman states that, because some committee members have some assumptions concerning frac sand mining and have probably already formed an opinion the committee, it is therefore illegitimate and should ultimately be dissolved. I’m paraphrasing.
But, what Mr. Beckman doesn’t realize is, he too is using assumptions in forming his opinion that the committee needs to be dissolved. He’s just using different assumptions. Therefore, if we apply his logic consistently we would have to dismiss his letter to the editor as well.
