The Caledonia girls soccer team opened up the 2012 season with a tough home test Saturday afternoon as they hosted Rochester Lourdes at CHS.

The Eagles (2-0) finished last season with an 18-3-1 overall record and lost to Totino-Grace 1-0 in the third place game of the State Class A tournament.

Lourdes grabbed a 1-0 lead on Emily Glynn’s goal in the 29th minute of the game and sealed the win with another goal with five minutes to play when Becca Mehling beat Warrior goalie Katie Meyer to give Lourdes the win.

Rochester Lourdes held a big advantage in shots-on-goal, outshooting Caledonia (0-1) 20-3 as the Warriors struggled with a tough Lourdes defense.

The Warriors will travel to Dover-Eyota Sept. 6 for a 7 p.m. game and will then host La Crescent Sept. 10.
