Carsten Luther David “Pete” Peterson

Carsten Luther David “Pete” Peterson, 81, of Eitzen, Minn., passed away Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.

David was born May 21, 1931, in Highland Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa, to George and Amanda (Bjorgo) Peterson. On January 29, 1954, he married Darlene Bolduan at the St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church Parsonage in Caledonia. David served in the United States Army and then farmed in Highland Township until moving to Eitzen in 1966. He was co-owner of St Mary’s Auto Body until his retirement in 1995. David taught firearm safety for many years. He was a proud past member of both the Eitzen Volunteer Fire Department and the Eitzen Lions Club. David was an avid gardener and spent many hours tending to his plants and beautiful flowers.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Darlene; children, Juanita (Irey) Meyer of New Albin, Iowa, Curtis (Candace) Peterson of Caledonia, Patricia (Steven) Thompson of La Crescent, Minn., Rebecca Peterson (friend, Roger Olerud) of Caledonia, Steven (Janice) Peterson of Caledonia, and Angela (Jeremy) Halverson of Spring Grove, Minn.; grandchildren, Shawn (Kelly) Meyer, Melissa (Tony) Lange, Jesse Peterson, Adam (Leah) Peterson, Amanda (Joshua) Rask, Harley Thompson, Jacob and Nickolas Peterson, and Evan and Ellie Halverson; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Ragnild St Mary and Valborg Clauson; many nieces and nephews; and his very special cats.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Victor and Ethel Bolduan; brothers, Myron (Esther) and Truman Peterson; and brothers-in-law, Harold St Mary and Carlton Clauson.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, Eitzen. Rev. Kent A. Meyer, Ph.D., will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, Eitzen, on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
