To the Editor:
Am I better off now than I was four years ago? You bet! And, it is largely due to “Obamacare!” That is why – in between canning the tomatoes, pears and the remainder of the beets – I am taking the time to write this letter in support of Obamacare.
I don’t know why people seem to have a problem with the Affordable Care Act, affectionately known as Obamacare, other than they obviously must misunderstand it.
During the past year Obamacare made it possible for me to have some extremely complicated eye surgery at Rochester Mayo by a surgeon who is world famous in the field of Diplopia and Extropia, a condition which was causing me to see a double image, and the two images were at different heights.
Now, with the surgery and new prescription eyeglasses I see normally again. What a relief!
Four months after the eye surgery I was again enabled through Obamacare to receive hip replacement surgery, and now, at age 86, I am again able to have a vegetable garden, take care of my own house and yard and enjoy life.
Of course there are co-pays and some expenses one must pay, but these are affordable. I could never have borne the cost of these two surgeries on my own resources.
I want seniors to know that it is in their own best interest to vote for Barack Obama in the upcoming election! Paul Ryan’s plans for Medicare would be a disaster for all of us in the future. We know the economy is not growing as fast as we would like… it takes time and effort to come out of a deep recession, but slow and steady wins the race, and we will get there!
