Take time Friday to wine
A Chocolate and Wine Affair and Pledge Auction will be held this coming Friday, Nov. 30 from 7 to 9:30 p.m., at Four Seasons Community Center to benefit the SOS pool campaign.
Many area residents have already contributed to the $1.7 million campaign to renovate the 56-year-old pool into an aquatic center. A chocolate and wine affair is being held to include others who want to show their support. The cost of the event is $10 per person or $15 per couple.
“We’re very grateful to all our current donors who helped secure nearly $1 million, and we would like to give an opportunity for all those who would like to make a pledge to do so,” Tim Murphy, campaign chairperson, said. “Our goal is to reach $1.2 million by the end of the year, a benchmark necessary for the city council to order the aquatic center design plans. Once the design plans are completed, our area contractors can review their possible involvement as well as identify ways to support the project through in-kind gifts of labor and time,” Murphy added. The design stage is estimated to take about 10 weeks to complete.
The auction at the event will feature opportunities to pledge and be recognized for the Caledonia Area Family Aquatic Center’s Wall of Honor. All contributions and pledges of $100 or more will be acknowledged unless a donor prefers to remain anonymous. Recognition includes tiles of various sizes in a random pattern without listing the exact amount. The size of the tiles will be related to the size of the gift it recognizes. Donors may choose how gifts are recognized (as memorials or in honor of person(s), or in recognition of specific events or accomplishments).
According to Murphy, many other levels of giving are necessary to reach the total campaign goal, and all gifts are very much appreciated.
The chocolate dessert buffet will feature assorted chocolate cupcakes by Melisa Goergen and decadent chocolate desserts prepared by The Farmhouse. Bluff Country Meats is donating meat and cheese trays. Quillin’s will provide assorted fruit trays. Several choices of wines will be included in the ticket. A cash bar is available. Highland Voices will entertain, and Steve Schuldt will be the auctioneer.
