Sierra Hunter finished third in the all-around competition Friday night when the Caledonia/SG/Houston gymnastics team hosted Pine Island but fell 122.2-118.975.

Hunter placed second on the bars with a score of 7.950 and was third in the competition at 7.7 as the Warriors took two of the top three spots on the beam with Kaylee Cavanaugh winning the event with a score of 7.775. “It was a great meet with Pine Island. The varsity girls keep improving, and we had a team score high so far this season of 118.98,” said coach Jackie Johnson.  “We still need to add Kaylee Cavanaugh on the bars, and then we hope to hit a team goal score of 120.00 or over.”

“Sierra continues to be strong on all events with an all-around score of 31.45 followed by Tara Solberg 29.650,” Johnson said.  “We are still working on getting more girls competing on JV. It would be great to have four to five girls on each event. The only events we have full are floor and beam, so we need to continue to work hard with these girls to have a full team.”

The team traveled to Byron Dec. 18  and will then host Stewartville on Jan. 3.
