To the Editor:
The Houston County commissioners have decided that frac sand mining should not be done below ground water level. It should be wet and hauled in covered vehicles when moved.
The Houston County Highway Department drags sand out of the Root River north of Houston near MHW 76. It is hauled in uncovered trucks around Houston County, mixed with salt and spread on all county roads. Does this contain any frac sand, and is it any health problem to the citizens?
Much has been written about the problems with frac sand but nothing has been proven to be correct. I am not an expert on the subject because I am not 75 miles away from home.
