To the Editor:
This is just a reminder to the public to check on the condition of your American flag this winter. Winter weather, with its wind, cold, ice, snow and freezing rain can be very hard on our National Colors, and especially hard on the small American flags that mark and honor our departed veterans final resting place.
If you haven’t done so already, please check the condition of all of your flags. Please do not let Old Glory become a tattered striped rag. If any of your flags are faded, worn or torn, they can be turned into your local Legion Post or Boy Scout troop for proper disposal. Our Spring Grove Legion Post holds a flag disposal ceremony with the local Boy Scout, Cub Scout and Girl Scout troops every year on Flag Day, June 14.
