Area travelers will want to keep an eye on the roads this summer, as State Representative Greg Davids (R-Preston) said many are scheduled to receive needed construction improvements.
“The Minnesota Department of Transportation has released its road construction project list for both 2013 and 2014, and roads in Fillmore and Houston counties are high on the priority list,” Davids said.
This summer three sections of Hwy. 16 – between Lanesboro and Rushford, between Lanesboro and Hwy. 52, and between Spring Valley to Preston – will be resurfaced. Highway 26 between Hwy. 16 and the Iowa border will also be repaved next summer, as will Hwy. 80 between Hwy. 16 and Hwy. 52.
Finally, Hwy. 44 will be repaved from Hwy. 52 to Spring Grove with five bridges also being replaced.
In 2014, Hwy. 43 will be reconstructed near Rushford, while bridges will be replaced along Hwy. 16 in Lanesboro and along Hwy. 26 near Brownsville. A retaining wall will also be reconstructed along Hwy. 44 in Hokah.
“Improving our highways is one of my top legislative priorities, and I’m confident our residents will be pleased with these safer roads,” Davids concluded.
