He was born March 26, 1946 in La Crosse, Wis. to Lloyd and Mona (Corcoran) Conniff. Dan graduated from St. Peter’s Catholic High School, Hokah in 1964. He served in the U.S. Air Force and then attended school at Winona Technical College. He married Jamie Evans on Sept. 8, 1973 at the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman in La Crosse.
Dan worked as a foreman at Trane Company, La Crosse, in the shipping and receiving department. He was an avid snowmobiler and motorcycle rider and he was a member of the Caledonia Sno-Gophers, the La Crosse Riders Club and the Gold Wing Group. He served on the Hokah City Council for many years and was a member of the Hokah American Legion Post 498.
Dan enjoyed spending time with his family, shooting fireworks and going on vacation. He was interested in the latest technology and always willing to help family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Jamie, of Brownsville; three children, Peter Conniff and Richard (Junia) Conniff, both of Bloomington, Minn.; Jennifer (Paul) Krueger, Brownsville; three grandchildren, Cameron, Carson, and Chloe; brothers and sister, Duane (Joan) Conniff, Hokah; Dennis (Joann) Conniff, Kay (Vern) Yolton, and James Conniff, all of Caledonia, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 4, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brownsville. Father Gregory Leif will officiate and burial with military honors will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Hokah. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, at Breza Hall, next to the church, where a prayer service will be said at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
