Mildred “Millie” Worman, 94, of Caledonia, Minn., passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Caledonia Care and Rehab.
She was born Sept. 29, 1918, in Caledonia to Ove and Marie (Johnson) Blexrud. Mildred was a 1936 graduate of Caledonia High School. On June 2, 1945, Millie married Homer A. Worman at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Caledonia and he preceded her in death on March 11, 2006. She was employed at Sprague National Bank (now Merchants Bank) in Caledonia for over 40 years starting as a teller and retiring as vice president.
Millie was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Aidenn Chapter 86 Order of Eastern Star, both in Caledonia. She was a woman who had a strong work ethic; expecting high standards and accountability, uniquely blended with an unending dedication and love for her family.
Survivors include three children, Douglas (Sharon) Worman, West Salem, Wis.; Marilyn (Joel) Downer, Bradenton, Fla., and Pam (Al) Mechtel, Caledonia; seven grandchildren, Michael and Shaina Worman, Matt (Antonio) Downer, Betsy (Jason) Eernisse, Jessie (Shane) Halverson, Jamie Wynn, and Josh Wynn (Brandie Niesen); eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Olive Blexrud, Caledonia; special friends, Enid Freeman, Caledonia and Joan Pelzel, Michigan, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother and sister-in-law, George and Irene Blexrud.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 11, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Steven E. Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, 518 W. Main St., Caledonia, on Sunday from 1 until 4 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
