He was born on Sept. 11, 1937 in Caledonia, Minn. to Arthur and Adeline (Welper) Kasten. Paul grew up on a farm, loved Oliver Tractors and going to tractor shows. He was a logger his entire life, and enjoyed the outdoors. Paul was known for his perpetual smile and laugh.
He is survived by his wife Patricia; three children, Karla (Dan) Koch, La Crescent; Paul L.A. and William, both of La Crescent; four grandchildren, Drew, Danielle, Will and Elisabeth; a sister Delores Fetketter and a brother, Hillery (Lila) Kasten. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Marlin, Leslie and Gailord, and a sister Ruth.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 5 at 11 a.m. at First Ev. Lutheran Church, La Crescent. Pastor Chris Christenson will officiate. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Eitzen, Minn. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Service of La Crescent on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
