Every drop counts
To the Editor:
The first week of April a phonathon was held to support the SOS pool project in Caledonia. I was fortunate enough to be a part of the process. What amazed me was the willingness of the people we asked to help with this project and the support we found as we called. It made me proud to be a member of the community. Getting on the phone to make these calls is a hard thing to do. People that participated in the phonathon did it because they believed in the project.
Most of us did not pay for the schools we went to or the pools we swam in. The generations before us provided those things for us. Supporting projects like the pool project is a great way to pay it forward for the next generation of swimmers.
At this point in time we are very close to the amount needed to hire the architects to draw up the plans so we can start working on the project this fall. I would like to encourage anyone who is going to pledge to please do so as soon as possible.
I would also like to personally thank Carolyn Medin who headed up the phonathon and other members of the communications committee who helped with it. Remember, every drop counts, so get your pledges in.
