Finally – boy’s golf gets on the course

The long wait is finally over for the Caledonia boy’s golf team, as the Warriors got in a meet last Monday as they traveled to Decorah to take on the Vikings, ranked fifth in class 3A in the state of Iowa. After having their first eight matches either cancelled or postponed to a later date, the Warriors and coach Jeremy Leis were just thankful to get outside. “It was beautiful, a great day to be on the course,” said Leis.

At Decorah, Devin Schiltz led the C/SG team with a round of 45 and Hunter Rud and Drew Stemper added 49’s but the Warriors fell 165-191 to the Vikings. “It was good to get out,” Leis added, “I’ve never seen anything like this season so far.” The team has a busy schedule this week, playing Southland Monday at Ma Cal, a junior varsity meet Tuesday against Fillmore Central, followed by another meet Thursday at Southland and a meet Friday at Chatfield.
