To the Editor:
This letter to the editor is intended to be a friendly challenge to all who love to tread water! On Tuesday, July 23, Caledonia resident Chris Swain intends to defend her title of champion water treader. Treaders can begin at 4 p.m. and will be allowed two hours in the water.
In the previous two pool parties, Chris tread a total of five hours, raising thousands of dollars for pool renovations. We are looking for treaders of all ages and abilities. Consider forming a team to challenge the “Dolphins,” a group of early bird swimmers who are committed to seeing improvements made to our community’s swimming pool.
Soliciting donations from family and friends, although greatly appreciated, is optional. We hope to see many of you there.
Events at the pool party include a special session where inflatables are allowed. The pool will be open during the supper hour that day. Participants will pay $1 to bring their favorite “noodle,” arm floaties, rafts, beach balls, etc. Following that, there is a free swim and games led by the lifeguards.
As in our first two years’ events, food will be sold at the shelter. In keeping with the family atmosphere, we will have bingo, children’s games, special raffle baskets and more. Music in the Park will feature the sounds of the Busta Band.
Treading water is just part of the evening’s challenge. The greater challenge is providing swimming opportunities in Caledonia for future generations. Please consider attending this fun event.
