Lucille M. Pottratz
Lucille M. Pottratz, 93, of Eitzen, Minn., passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse.
She was born June 10, 1920, in Tulare, S.D., to Albert and Luella (Haar) Fliehe. Lucille graduated high school in Redfield, S.D. On June 5, 1940, Lucille married George Pottratz in Tulare, S.D. They then moved to rural Eitzen, Minn., where they owned and operated their farm until their retirement in the mid 70’s when they moved into town. Lucille was involved with the Eitzen Senior Citizens, St. Luke’s Quilters, and The Homemaker’s Club. She was an avid seamstress and enjoyed crocheting many afghans.
Survivors include her two daughters, Pat (John) Nystuen of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Mary (Russ) Georgesen of Goodyear, Ariz.; two grandsons, Edward Nystuen of Minneapolis, Minn., and Nathan (Jenn) Georgesen of Victoria, British Columbia; one great-grandson, Whitaker Georgesen; one sister-in-law, Laura Fliehe of Aberdeen, S.D.; two special caregivers, “adopted daughter,” Linda Meyer of Eitzen, and niece, Margaret Meiners of Caledonia, Minn.; and other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Tom Pottratz; her sister, Elsie (Henry) Meiners; and her brother, Leroy Fliehe.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 12, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, Eitzen, Minn. Rev. Kent A. Meyer, Ph.D., and Rev. Debra A. Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 12 noon until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
