Caledonia Legion Post 191 saw their summer American Legion tournament run come to an end Friday when they lost 5-4 to Chatfield in extra innings at Memorial Field in the East Sub District 1 tournament.

Chatfield Post 190 took advantage of three Caledonia errors to advance to St. Charles, where they lost to Lake City 10-2 Saturday.

Trailing 3-2 after three innings, Caledonia knotted the score with a run in the fourth as Seth Twite singled and advanced to second as Tanner Gran drew a walk.

Twite then scored on Josh Lampert’s base hit. Post 191 grabbed the lead in the fifth as Travis Frank led off with a triple and scored on Twite’s single, but the Chatfield squad rallied to tie the game in the seventh inning, scoring with two outs as Ethan Waltz singled and scored on Dan Narverson’s triple.

Chatfield then won the game in the top of the eighth inning as Aaron Paulson singled with two outs and Caledonia then committed back-to-back errors that allowed Paulson to score. Caledonia left 11 hitters on base in the game and also had eight walks.

Post 191 lost to #1 seeded Wabasha-Kellogg 3-0 July 17 after W-K took advantage of a pair of Caledonia errors to score two runs in the third inning. Caledonia pitchers Ryan Frank and Kai Lidstrom gave up just three hits in the game, but errors proved to be the difference. TJ Schultz collected half of Caledonia’s hits, going 2×3 with a single and double.

Caledonia opened up tournament play with a 7-4 win over St. Charles July 15 after Schultz went 3×3 to lead the offense, who also recorded 11 stolen bases, five hits and five walks in the game. Lidstrom and Frank combined to strike out seven Saint Charles hitters in the win.

Caledonia Post 191 ends the season with an impressive 9-2 overall record.
