Jeanette A. Davy, Ph.D.
Dr. Jeanette A. Davy, 59, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2013 at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center in La Crosse, Wis., from complications due to an accident in 2010. A memorial service will be held at The Church of the Crucifixion in La Crescent, Minn., Monday, Aug. 12, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Lawrence B. Berger will officiate. Burial will take place in the Calvary Cemetery in Caledonia, Minn.
Jeanette was born February 2, 1954 at St. Ann’s Hospital in La Crosse, Wis., to Melvin A. and Mary E. (Soller) Davy. Her home was in rural Hokah, Minn. She attended school in Caledonia, graduating from Caledonia High School. Jeanette graduated from Viterbo College in La Crosse, with a bachelor of science in chemistry, completed graduate courses at the University of Wyoming, and served as a supervisor with the Salvation Army in La Crosse. She earned a doctorate in management at the University of Arizona in 1986. Dr. Davy became a university professor, focusing on teaching, business consulting and research, beginning at Arizona State University and serving at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, for 18 years.
She earned the status of Professor of Management in 2000 with her distinguished record of teaching, research and service to the university and business communities. Dr. Davy is remembered by her students of many years as having contributed greatly to their learning and by many small business owners she assisted. She was also the Director of MBA Assessment and New Program Development.
Dr. Davy’s research publications have been recognized with several national awards, and in 2009, she was invited and completed a residency as a member of the Oxford Round Table at Oxford University in England. Following her accident in 2010, Dr. Davy continued academic research and published several articles in the fields of management and organizational leadership. She was awarded Professor Emerita status in 2012 at Wright State University, and her research is continuing with coauthors and students.
She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin A. Davy, and her paternal and maternal grandparents. She is survived by her mother, Mary Davy, La Crescent, Minn.; sisters Peggy Stock, Waukon, Iowa; Cheryl (Allen) Whitsitt of Brownsville, Minn., and Mary Kay Davy, St. Paul, Minn.; brothers Michael (Debbie) Davy, Holmen, Wis., Melvin (Jean) Davy, Hokah, Minn. Her nieces are Megan Stock and Leigh Campbell, and nephews are Ian Stock, Phillip Whitsitt, Paul Whitsitt, Michael Davy, Allen Davy, and Thomas Davy. Jeanette is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends and colleagues.
Jeanette enjoyed her teaching and research, as well as her precious dogs, golf, travel, wool spinning and knitting. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Jeanette A.
