Trece Frank scored three goals and Brenna Werner added another as the Caledonia/Houston/Spring Grove girls soccer team evened their record at 1-1 with a 4-0 win over Winona Cotter Sept. 5 at CHS. The win gave Tim Colleran his first victory as head coach of the Warriors.

Frank scored two goals early in the match, both coming off great passes from Liz Stoltz. Frank headed the first one into the net and then scored again on the Warriors next trip down the field for a 2-0 Warrior lead early in the game. “The whole team played very well with great team passing and ball movement,” Colleran said.

Forward Ali Beardmore had five shots on goal, Stoltz had three assists, and the Warriors had 15 shots on goal in the game.

Defensively Colleran said that Sidney Halverson, Ella Pieper, Alison Goergen, Hannah Felten and goalie Olivia Schmitz worked together as a team and held Winona Cotter to a shutout. “Brenna had a great shot in the upper corner of the net,” Colleran added, and goalie Olivia Schmitz made eight saves in goal.

The Warriors opened up the season with a 9-0 loss to Kasson-Mantorville Aug. 27 at K-M. The KoMets got two goals from Abby Wigham and two more from Abbie Overton in the win.

The Warriors traveled to Saint Charles Tuesday and will host Dover-Eyota Thursday night at 7 p.m.
