Goals hard to come by for boys soccer

The Caledonia/Houston/Spring Grove boys soccer team dropped two games last week, losing to La Crescent 3-0 Sept. 9 and then falling 9-0 to P-E-M Saturday. The Lancers got goals from Ben Lassig and Jacob Fritz with Fritz scoring twice in the win for LaCrescent.

Caledonia coach Dustin Moburg said, “We played our game during the first half – steady, even pressure with good marking. During the second half our marking slowed down and La Crescent made some good triangles to put the ball back in the net. I have to give big credit to Nick Strabley for 24 saves – he is like a brick wall. I also have to give credit to Jacob Fritz from La  Crescent for his great golazo in the second half. We played well, and our teamwork and formation is improving.”

Saturday P-E-M handed the Warriors a 9-0 loss at Plainview.  “P-E-M had some good crosses and heading opportunities in the 6 yard box. We need to keep the formation and look for the open pass,” Moburg said.

The loss dropped Caledonia to 0-4 while P-E-M improved to 5-1-1 with the win. Nick Strabley made nine saves for the Warriors, who played at Cotter Tuesday before looking for a little revenge when P-E-M comes to Caledonia Thursday night for a 7 p.m. game.
