The Caledonia FFA Dairy Cattle Evaluation team represented Minnesota FFA at the All American Invitational Youth Dairy Cattle Judging Contest and came away with a fourth place finish in the FFA Division.
Aaron Houdek placed third individually in the FFA Division. A total of 41 teams participated in this event in the FFA, 4-H, Community Colleges and University divisions.
In addition to the overall FFA fourth place finish, the team of Aaron Houdek, Lauren Hendel, Justin Stemper and Chayce Krueger placed second in Jerseys, third in Guernseys, fourth in Holsteins and third in Oral Reasons.
Individually, Aaron Houdek led the team by placing fourth in Ayrshires, second in Jerseys and fifth in Oral Reasons.
Justin Stemper also placed fifth individually in Jerseys.
Individually, in the FFA Division, Houdek placed third, Lauren Hendel 14th, Justin Stemper 18th and Chayce Krueger 33rd. The top three individual scores are used in the team total.
This was a great experience for this team as they evaluated five of the major breeds of dairy cattle. They are very happy to have had this opportunity.
The team will now begin preparations for participation in several regional events leading up to the state qualifying event that will determine the teams advancing to FFA state competition in April.
In addition to the judging, competition team members were able to tour Hershey Chocolate World and take a Trolley Tour of Hershey to see how Milton Hershey developed the area into what it is today.
The team made a brief stop in Gettysburg and walked through one of the many battlefields, in addition to a brief stop at our nation’s capitol before boarding the return flight home.
The Caledonia Dairy Cattle Evaluation team, along with advisor Brad Harguth and parent chaperone Kris Houdek, would like to thank everyone who supported the trip.
