The Caledonia boys soccer team fell to 1-7 overall with a pair of losses last week. The Warriors fell 5-3 at Holmen Saturday and dropped a 5-0 decision at La Crescent Thursday.
Against La Crescent the Warriors were out-shot 33-7 as the Lancers scored four first half goals and rolled to the win. “It was a tough game as always,” coach Dustin Moburg said, “But our marking and covering and recovering has improved.”
Nick Strabley recorded 16 saves in goal for Caledonia.
On Saturday the Warriors traveled to Holmen and battled the Vikings pretty well before falling 5-3. “The wind was definitely a factor today,” Moburg said. “Holmen had the wind advantage during the first half and were able to score three times. During the second half we used the wind, won balls and kept passing. We came up with two late in the game goals. Marking is improving and so is communication. We look forward to playing Holmen again this coming Thursday.”
Josh Nord scored Caledonia’s first goal with a shot through defense, and Justin Inglett scored the second goal open at the six yard box.
The Warriors will look for a little revenge when they host Holmen Thursday at 7 p.m. On Saturday the Warriors will host Kasson-Mantorville at noon.
