For the second year in a row the Caledonia FFA Dairy Cattle Evaluation team of Lauren Hendel, Aaron Houdek, Justin Stemper and Chayce Krueger won the Region VIII dairy cattle evaluation and management event held at UW RiverFalls on Oct. 11. Chayce Krueger led the team as the top individual in the event.
Aaron Houdek placed 5th, Justin Stemper 7th and Lauren Hendel placed 10th. This is one of the first times that I can recall that all four individuals on the team placed in the top 10 individually. The team advances to the State FFA event that will be held the end of April.
Livestock Evaluation Team advances to state
The Caledonia FFA Livestock Evaluation Team of Kyle Jennings, Austin Werner, Hannah Bolduan, Casey Scanlan and Sarah Serres gathered in the last qualifying spot in the Region VIII livestock evaluation career development event to advance to state. The team placed 9th in the region. The team will have a lot of work ahead of them in preparation for the state event.
Horse Evaluation Team places 14th
The Caledonia FFA Horse Team of Madison Zehnder, Ali Beardmore Alison Goergen, Serria Olinger and Taylor Beardmore placed 14th in this year’s event. The team is young and needs a little more practice to be competitive at the next level. A good effort was made, and everyone is looking ahead to next year.
Poultry Team wins invitational
The Caledonia FFA Poultry Evaluation Team came away with 1st place honors at the UW River Falls Poultry Invitational. Three team members placed in the top 10. Emily Hagerott place 3rd, Nathan Hagerott placed 4th and Tressa King placed 7th to lead the Caledonia team. Brenna Werner and Ella Pieper came in with very competitive scores as well. The team as a whole did a great job and will now make final preparations for the regional event that will be held in December.
