The high-flying Caledonia boys improved to 4-1 with a pair of lopsided wins last week when they rolled past Lewiston-Altura 94-28 and Southland 89-42.

The Warriors opened up the week Tuesday with the home opener against Southland where they jumped out to a 47-25 half-time lead and then held the Rebels to just 17 second-half points for the win. “We pressured the ball well tonight. The guys came out and got a lot of deflections that led to a lot of layups,” coach Josh Diersen said. “Caledonia hit nine, 3-pointers in the game, including three from Josh Nord, while West Spier led the way with 18 points and Justin Burg added 12 and nine rebounds for Caledonia.

The Warriors led 19-10 with 9:45 to go in the first half but used a 9-3 run capped by a basket from Kyle Sorenson to go up 28-13. A three-pointer from Austin Bauer pushed the lead to 32-17 at the 5 minute mark. Diersen said, “We have a 10-guy rotation and the guys are busting their butts. We had 10 guys play 14 minutes – the energy is high and we’ve got guys bringing it.”

On Friday night the Warriors rolled into Lewiston and rolled back out with another win as they beat the Cardinals by 66 points, 94-28.

Caledonia led 51-11 at halftime and topped the 90 point mark for the third time this season. Austin Bauer led the Warriors with 20 points, and West Spier added 18 more for Caledonia, who, after hosting Chatfield Tuesday night, will play at Dover-Eyota Friday night.
