He was born in Caledonia on July 17, 1922 to Ferdinand and Martha (Meyer) Kubitz. Fremont worked on the family farm until his marriage to Corinee Alys Schutz on April 13, 1952. She preceded him in death on Sept. 21, 1988. Fremont worked for Hector Construction for 25 years. In his spare time, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. There are several big bucks no longer roaming the woods because of Fritz.
Fremont is survived by children, Robert (Ida) Kubitz, Cindy (Archie) Hartson and Judy Danielson; grandchildren, Jenny (Derek) St. Mary, Zachariah Thomas, Alys Thomas and Cody Hartson; a great-grandson, Gavin St. Mary; sister, Edna Kubitz; brother-in-law, Roger (Shirley) Schutz; one niece and two nephews.
In addition to his wife, Fremont was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Melvin Kubitz.
Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 650 N. Kingston St., Caledonia, Minn. Rev. Jon Wolff will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, (Caledonia Chapel), is in charge of arrangements.
