Girls continue string of six straight road games

Despite a 28 point effort from freshman Mariah Schroeder, the Caledonia girls lost a tough, 61-58 decision at Wabasha-Kellog Jan. 17.

Playing their third of a string of six straight road games, the Warriors (3-9) couldn’t keep up with Falcons, who got 24 points from Lexi Kanz and 19 more from Nautika Kotero.

“We got down 16-2 early by giving up to many easy looks,” coach Kevin Kluge said. “We fought back and took the lead late but let it get away. I was proud of how the girls kept fighting. We just played poor defensively. We have to get back to doing the little things defensively; they all have it, we just need to get more consistent.”

Caledonia trailed by five points at the break 37-32 but couldn’t make up the difference. Jordyn Krause added 13 points and Tracy Felton chipped in nine more for the Warriors, who will travel to Rushford-Peterson Thursday night after playing at Fillmore-Central Monday night.
