Caledonia senior Dannie Dunbar has signed with the University of Minnesota-Crookston to play football this fall. Dunbar, the son of Craig and Corene Dunbar, joins 27 other high school players, including 16 from the state of Minnesota, that have committed to play for head coach Mike Fritze and the Golden Eagles.
Dunbar, 5’11”/240 lbs., will play on the defensive line for a Crookston team that finished 2-9 last season. Crookston defensive line coach Levi Bullerman said, “Dannie has been part of a very successful program at Caledonia that has won multiple state championships, and we’re excited about him coming into our program and instilling that winning mentality. He’s a guy that I see as a high-effort kind of guy with a high motor and a guy that we can really look toward the future with.”
Dunbar played fullback and on the defensive line for the Warriors, who finished the 2013 season with a 10-1 record.
