Soil and Water Office will help you invest in wind break

To the Editor:

Trees are like a savings account, it’s something we wished we would have started long ago. These past few months we felt the polar winds blowing and our furnaces running for long periods. With heating cost going higher a tree wind break will pay big dividends.

Wind breaks are generally planted on the north and west sides of your yard. But planting a tree is a comittment, water, mulch, water, protect trunks from mowers, weed whips, water and water again. If you want more information our local Forestry or Soil and Water offices can help. The Soil and Water Office is taking orders for trees this spring. Again water.
