Rodney D. Meiners, 76, of Eitzen, Minn., died peacefully on Friday, March 21, 2014, at Tweeten Lutheran Healthcare Center in Spring Grove, Minn.
Rodney was born June 16, 1937, on the family farm in Eitzen, to Paul and Wilhelmine (Hein) Meiners. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Eitzen. Rodney graduated from Caledonia High School and upon graduation continued to farm, remaining a lifelong farmer. On June 16, 1956, he married Marlene Danielson at Wilmington Lutheran Church. Rodney and Marlene made their home on the family farm and were married over 57 years.
Rodney is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marlene, of Eitzen; two children, Sheryl (Michael) Eyster, Springfield, Ore.; and David (Jean) Meiners, Eitzen; one grandson, Zachary Eyster, Eugene, Ore.; two sisters, Geneva Renk, Sun City, Ariz.; and Marveen (Leon) Feil, Eitzen; and many other relatives and friends.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Wilhelmine; one brother, Clifford, who died in infancy; one brother, Ronald; one sister, Linda; one sister-in-law, Lorna; and two brothers-in-law, Roy Renk and Warren Nuttall.
Memorial services will be Friday, March 28, 2014, at 11 a.m., at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, Eitzen. Rev. Steven E. Meyer will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A time for visitation and opportunity to greet family will be at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, Eitzen, on Thursday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
