The Caledonia United Methodist Church Handbell Choir cordially invites the public to a special concert set for Sunday, April 27 at 2 p.m. The concert will carry a “songs of the seasons” theme and feature a variety of music. All are invited to attend and enjoy refreshments afterward. A free will offering will be taken to help offset the expense of the group participating in the La Crosse Handbell Choir Festival in June. “We’re not professional but we’ve got a good handbell choir and thought we should invite people to come and hear us,” handbell choir director Sibyl Floyd said.
The choir includes 11 ringers and four octaves of handbells. Members will demonstrate ringing technique during the performance and educate the audience on how different sounds are achieved.
The Caledonia United Methodist Church Handbell Choir has been in existence for a quarter century, of which Floyd has directed 22 years.
The group practices about once a week, except in the summer, and has been training for this performance since the first of the year.
