It’s been a while since the track at CHS hosted a meet, but the facility got a good workout Friday when the Warriors hosted La Crescent, Rushford-Peterson/Houston and La Crosse Central in the Caledonia Quad, their only home meet of the season.

To no one’s surprise, the Central squads ran away from the rest of the field with the boys winning with 122 team points to easily out-distance second place R-P/H, who finished with 63 team points. The Warriors finished the day with 34 points. Ryan Pitts and West Spier each won one event. Pitts won the 100 meter dash in 11.50 seconds and Spier cleared 6’4” to win the high jump by 10 inches. Pitts also placed second in the 200 with a time of 23.71 seconds, and Spier added a third place effort in the long jump at a little over 19 feet.

Brady Ambrose/The Caledonia Argus Ryan Pitts wins the boys 100 meter dash with a time of 11.5 seconds in Caledonia/Spring Grove’s only home track meet of the season.

Other top efforts for C/SG included a third place finish from the 4×100 relay team of Thomas Jergenson, Ezekiel Ott, Andrew Marschall and Mitchell Anderson. Phillip Paulson placed third in the 110 hurdles, and Jergenson was third in the 400 meter dash. The 4×200 team of Anderson, Ott, Mitchel Bechtel and Case McCormick placed third also.

For the girls, Aly Folz won the only first of the day in shot put with a throw of 34’3.5”. Lydia DeMorett finished second in the 400 at 1:10.60 and Mariah Schieber was third in the 1600 run with a time of 6:12.25.

The 4×100 relay team of Ally Beardmore, Sam Colleran, Brenna Werner and Josephine Wagner placed third, and the 4×200 team of Werner, Wagner, Colleran and Tracy Felten finished second, just two seconds behind Central. The 4×400 team (DeMorett, Werner, Felten, Wagner) also was third, and Alexis King tied for third place in the high jump. Folz added a third-place effort in the discus with a toss of 93 feet, 5 inches.

The teams will travel to Lewiston-Altura Thursday for a meet scheduled to start at 4:10 p.m.
