Suspicious activity 

Sunday, March 16, 2:15 a.m. Officers observed a large group of intoxicated males near the Semcac parking lot on S. Marshall Street. One of the males was attempting to make an entry on the passenger side of a parked vehicle.

 

Fire

Sunday, March 16, 10:03 a.m. The Police Department assisted the Caledonia Fire Department with a report of a house fire on Sunset Dr. The fire was contained in the furnace at the home.

 

Dispute

Sunday, March 16, 7 p.m. Officers were called to a dispute between two families over a missing phone battery. Both sets of parents were accusing the others’ kids for the missing battery, although no one admitted to taking it. The families were advised to stay away from each other.

 

Litter

Monday, March 24, 4:49 p.m. A business in town complained of unlawful dumping of garbage. Over the weekend, the dumpster had been filled with garbage. The business owners did not want charges filed, only for the officers to speak with the offenders.

 

Hit and run 

Monday, March 24, 6:38 p.m. A hit and run accident was reported on 500 South Winnebago Street sometime between 10 p.m. and 7:30 a.m.

 

Parking violation 

Tuesday, March 25, 11:48 a.m. There were three citations issued for parking in a handicap parking spot at the Caledonia High School.

 

Traffic violation 

Wednesday, March 26, 5:10 p.m. An individual was given a citation on Hwy. 44 and W. Main St. for not wearing a seatbelt and failing to produce proof of insurance.

 

Motor vehicle assist 

Wednesday, March 26, 11:30 p.m. An officer assisted a driver who was having mechanical issues. The officer followed the driver to Kwik Trip and arranged for them to get a ride.

 

Unsecured building 

Friday, March 28, 4:10 a.m. An officer checked a business at the request of the owner who believed he may have left a door unsecured. The door was found to be unlocked. The officer locked the door.

 

Assist 

Friday, March 28, 5 p.m. Officers assisted the Fire Department with a report of a gas leak behind the building on the north side of the 100 block of E. Main St. Officers provided traffic control until the source of leak was located and could be spotted.

 

Fire 

Friday, March 28, 1:27 p.m. A fire alarm went off at Caledonia High School because of tampering. Officers assisted the fire department. Criminal charges are pending.

 

Traffic

Saturday, March 29, 10 p.m. A vehicle was stopped and given a verbal warning on W. Main St. for inattentive driving.

 

Juvenile assist

Saturday, March 29, 6 p.m. Officer assisted a family with a juvenile that was acting out and making vulgar and threatening comments. The juvenile was taken to La Crosse for a mental health check.

 

Public 

Saturday, March 29, 10:05 p.m. Emergency lights were flashing at both city water/waste plants. The officer made contact with the city water employee and the problem was taken care of.

 

Dog Ordinance 

Tuesday, April 1, 11:31 a.m. There was a complaint of a dog barking on N. Marshall St. The dog was not barking when the officer arrived.

Wednesday, April 2, 9:01 p.m. There was a report of a lost dog from a home on N. Pine St. The officer helped owners search for the dog, which was found safe.

Saturday, April 12, 5:26 a.m. A beagle with a blue collar was located near the City Garage. The dog was turned over to animal control until the owner could be located and contacted.

 

House Watch 

Tuesday, April 1, 1:47 p.m. There were trespassing concerns for a house on E. Main St. A house watch request was made.

 

Suspicious Activity

Tuesday, April 1, 9:33 p.m. Officer stopped a vehicle and spoke with the driver who was driving around the SEMA parking lot for an extended period of time, well after business hours. There was no illegal activity or theft going on.

 

Motor Vehicle Accident

Wednesday, April 2, 3:32 p.m. A minor vehicle accident was reported at the Caledonia High School parking lot.

Thursday, April 10, 1:01 p.m. There was a 2 car crash at the intersection of W. Washington and Hwy.. 44/76. There were no injuries reported.

 

Public Assist

Friday, April 4, 7:50 p.m. An officer mediated a civil issue between two former friends who had borrowed household items from each other. As they were not friends anymore, they simply wanted the property returned.

 

Domestic Issue

Saturday, April 5, 12:20 a.m. An officer was dispatched to a home where a female subject explained that her son had tried to break her glasses. She stated that she was not scared, but did want her son removed from her home. The son was given a ride back to a home in Caledonia.

 

Inebriated Person

Sunday, April 6, 12:55 a.m. Officer assisted a male who was having trouble getting his apartment unlocked.

Saturday, April 12, 2:36 a.m. An officer observed several individuals kick a door near the Legion. It was investigated, and the door was not damaged other than a dirty footprint. One minor consumption was issued.

 

Theft 

Monday, April 7, 3:15 p.m. There was a report of stolen farm equipment. There is an investigation pending.

 

Medical Assist

Tuesday, April 8, 1:45 p.m. There was a medical assist for a cardiac arrest.

 

Reckless Driving

Wednesday, April 9, 3:32 p.m. There were driving complaints in the high school parking lot. The drivers of the vehicles were identified and their parents were contacted. There will be citations upon any further occurrences.
