Tanner Gran, Kai Lidstrom and Kyle Sorenson teamed up to toss a 4-hitter as the Caledonia/Spring Grove baseball team beat P-E-M 7-2 Thursday afternoon for their first win of the season.

Gran got the win, going 5.1 innings while giving up three hits, two runs and 5 strike outs and the Warrior offense scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to seal the win. “Tanner Gran gave us the performance a senior should on the mound tonight,” coach Dave Konz said.

Leading 3-2, C/SG came to bat in the bottom of the sixth. Seth Twite reached on an error and moved to second on another P-E-M error. With one out Tanner Gran also reached on an error and Twite moved to third and then scored on the play with Gran moving to second. TJ Schultz singled and Tanner Langen followed with another base hit that scored Schultz and Lang and Harrison Speltz singled to left scoring Langen. “We did much better this game with our situational hitting,” Konz added.

The Warriors took a 2-0 lead in the second on a base hit by Joe Pettit. Pinch-runner Keenan Siminski then scored on Twite’s sharp grounder to second. C/SG pushed the lead to 2-0 when Gran singled and later scored on Colton Lampert’s base hit.

P-E-M scored a run in the top of the fifth but the Warriors got the run back in the bottom half of the inning as Lampert reached on an error, stole second and moved to third on a passed ball and then scored on an error on the P-E-M shortstop.

The Bulldogs scored their final run in the top of the sixth but it was all C/SG after that. TJ Schultz was 3×4 at the plate with a run scored and Lampert and Speltz were both 2×4.

Kai Lidstrom pitched two-thirds of an inning in relief and Sorenson pitched the seventh inning as the warriors improved to 1-1 on the young season.

Up next the Warriors have games scheduled at St. Charles April 22 and at home against Lewiston-Altura April 24.
