The Caledonia/Spring Grove boys golf team battled some brutal weather conditions as they took part in the Stewartville Invitational April 17.
The 16 team invite was played in what was described as “spine tingling” cold, with temperatures around 40 degrees and a stiff breeze blowing throughout the day. “Thursday was brutal average temp was under forty degrees it was really tough. The boys did a great job keeping their attitudes positive and just keep playing,” coach Jeremy Leis said.
When it was over, the Warriors had carded a team score of 384, good enough for 10th place while Stewartville took advantage of playing on their home course and finished with a 335 to take top honors.
Devin Schiltz led the team with an 85 while Cody Breeser and Simon Ely both carded 99’s. Rodney Tweito rounded out the scoring with a 101.
The team was scheduled to host Rushford-Peterson and Fillmore Central Monday and then travel to Fillmore Tuesday. On April 28 the team travels to Southland before returning home to host Decorah, Iowa. April 29.
